30 year old engine, the carb is only working on one side.

2 barrel or 4? Holley or Rochester? Try adding a product called Quickclean to your fuel. Any Mercury dealer should carry it. If your motor at least runs, it should help. If not, get the correct marine carb kit, NAPA has them, if not, a place called Dayton Parst in Florida should have it.

I have had many Boats and when I rebuild the Carbs I buy my kit at the Auto Parts store using the carb number or engine year model. The only thing different on a Boat and Car Carb is the Air Filter. The Boats use a Spark Arrestor type to prevent backfires from blowing up a boat if there gas fumes.
