Try "Sailing for Dummies" at your local Library. It gives a good introduction for a novice to learn how to sail. Lessons wouldn't be a bad idea either, at your local Yacht Club.

You raise the sail and adjust it so it catches the wind. No, you do not want to try this at home unless you are a trained professional. Suggestion: at least get a book or take a couple hour class. Sailing is fun and can be safe, but you do need to understand what you're doing.

Go online. Look for sailing clubs in your area. Many have a reasonable membership fee. Most offer basic and advanced sailing lessons. Read a book, take the lessons, and make new friends in the sailing group.

Forget the books... sailing, especially in a small boat, is all about "feeling"... balance, movement, wind angle, strength and shift.... and you have to go out and experience it.

Find a practical class, or somebody who will teach you privately, go out and make the mistakes, and get the feeling. Then sit down with the books and learn the theory, navigation, rules of the road, etc...

It is kind of hard for us to just tell you how to sail a boat. The size, rigging, and hull type tend to make a diffrence in how you sail the boat anyway. you are better off getting somebody to show you.

Just practice a little. If you get one with only one said it is very easy to sail. You have to cut across the wind a little.

well, depends on what size of boat, where youre sailing it, and wheather it has a jib. I would recomend taking a sailing class.

Do you really think someone can tell you how?
You need someone to give you lessons, this is much more complicated than an answer on Yahoo.
