Not sure about New York, but Southern California is about $11-12 per month for slip fees. Sailboats do not require too much maintanence that you can't do yourself. You should have someone clean the bottom once a month while it is in the water and this should be about $1.10 to $1.30 per linear foot per cleaning if done monthly. Other than that, you will need insurance (probably a couple hundred bucks per year). If it has an inboard, you can pay a guy to change the oil/maintain the engine every year at about $150 per time. Bottom paint for a 25' boat is about $1000 and lasts 4-5 years if maintained/cleaned properly while constantly in the water.

My boat is a 25 footer. It is paid for and costs me about $4000 to keep in the water year round. NY will probably require dry dock storage for the winter, so you should get more time out of a bottom paint job!

Nothing beats a great day at sea, so it is definitely worth it!
