as you may have seen in my other question im currently compleating a university aerospace design project. this project involved attching a total head probe to an aircraft and route the appropriate pipes and electrical cables towards the apropriate areas.

the one part im confused with the the choice of pipe to be used, my lecturer said that any old pvc pipe will do (must be flexable BTW) but im thinking as it will be in a preasurised cabin it will be crushed under the differance in preasure.

what is used in the real world? where can be sourced etc

any ideas?

Single turboprops are all the rage (Meridians, Caravans, and PC-12s) and the Diamond D-Jet and Piper Jet both are planned with single jet engines. Will we ever see a single-engined passenger (over 100 seats) airliner?

Would you fly on it?

Why do planes sometimes take circuitous route bypassing some countries when they could fly over it and save some fuel. I can understand Indian planes not flying over Pakistan for example, but why do airlines like Emirates (UAE) bypass friendly countries like Qatar and Bahrain to reach Saudi Arabia from Dubai? Does the cost of flying over a country cost more in fees etc. than the saving in fuel?
