Ive read that airplanes make the most power when stationary. I dont mean the engine makes more horsepower but the prop makes more push. Then Ive read that helicopters rotors are more efficient when the helicopter is moving. Source says that after moving at about 20mph you lose ground effect but then gain transient lift?. Can someone explain this to me? is the prop/rotor producing more thrust while stationary or moving?

They're trying to make airplanes without pilots, and this is bad news for me! Because I want to be a pilot! Do you think that's going to happen in the future? Will there always be pilots around?

Take a look at this youtube video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYt3jnm-q1k

They have already began! :( And don't mind the title, it has nothing to do with it.

I saw a very short bit on the discovery channel about how fighter jets stop in a naval carrier. Unfortunately I missed it- had to go somewhere. Anywho I saw that the ship has somehting built into to it to help stop it and help it take off. Any info on this? Thanks all!
