what is the status of boeing pelican? when will it be built?

At this time the Pelican is only a proposal, no one has bought one and there is not one in production. My opinion is that it will never be built, since it is only advantageous in flights across oceans. When it is flying across land it can't compete with modern jet transports. This makes it an aircraft of limited use in a time when the military wants max flexibility from its equipment.
