This is my first year spent in the icy north and I've read all about how to drive on icy roads. But our cabin is down a hill (unpaved) and driving up it with snow on it, I find my tires spinning. So far I've managed it by going slow in low gear but would really appreciate any hints. We have 2 vehicles...a Tracker with 4 wheel drive (that you have to turn the hubs outside) and a Chevy Silverado pickup with 4 wheel drive. I've never driven 4 wheel drive before either. Hubby is disabled, so I've got to learn this on my own.

Thanks! Really appreciate any opinions.

I had this really annoying argument with someone years ago about this - she insisted that most car horns are located on a stick to the side of the steering wheel. I have NEVER seen this that I'm aware of - aren't most car horns a big button ON the steering wheel?

Where's yours?

Hi Folks,

Is this American notion that a pan of crystals in the exhaust flow will significantly reduce noxios emmissins correct ?

I have my doubts, as when living in the Mid-East, I had the two things cut ond replaced with straight through lenghts of pipe.

(This on a Pontiac Transam, 4.9l turbocharged V8 thing)

I found that with the increased efficiency of the exhaust system, I gained some power, so considerably much lighter on the gas pedal in day-to day use. Result being about a 15% reduction in total fuel useage.

Are "catties" then just a token gesture to reduce car emmisions ?

All thoughts / experiences thankfully received, as I am thinking about having the item removed from my mothers' little Chevorolet.

That if you have a traffic accident in a supermarket car park you cannot claim on your insurance because it is private land and insurance only covers you for driving on public roads.

i recently inherited a very nice 1973 riviera my uncle had. its a beautiful car. it has a 455 engine. it runs ok but gets horrible gas mileage. about 9 miles to a gallon of gas. is there any way to put something like a typical 350 chevy engine in it and get better mileage. i love to drive it but i just cant afford to cruise around that much with the way it sucks gas and i have to buy lead additives. im not expecting much because it is a big heavy car. but i would be happy if i could get 15 miles to a gallon on unleaded gas.

the service department even said they took it apart, including the back seats

Am I within my legal rights to ask for a new car to replace this car, even if they "fix" it, now that it's been disassembled and re-assembled?
