Spark plugs are responsible for emitting charge into the engine cylinder to ignite the air-fuel mixture.

Engines have a mechanism that makes sure that sparks are generated at the right time in right place(read cylinder).

If you dont change the faulty spark plugs, the air-fuel will not ignite at the right time which means your car will be emitting great amounts of unburnt fuel. Car's effiency will decrease.

They are really easy to replace.

Just unplug the wires that are connected at the head of engine.

When you unplug these wires you will find spark plugs. Rotate them, they will be unscrewed and will be in your hands in no time at all.

If you will use an old spark plug the sparking which it does in cylinder may not able to ignite the fuel mixture efficiently and in time of cycle,so you may not able to start or may get speed maintaining worst as well as also get less milage. The damage -it can choke the exhaust pipe and cylinder which will then need more maintenance cost, leads fuel average lost.

your car could start "backfiring" and the engine won't burn gas as efficiently, so your gas mileage will go down. before changing them, however, check their "gap" with a spark plug gauge and run a fine file over the contacts to remove any corrosion/dirt - then check the gap again (you can adjust it slightly).

hard starting, poor gas mileage, engine miss eventually, it all depends on the car as to how hard they are to change.
