That if you have a traffic accident in a supermarket car park you cannot claim on your insurance because it is private land and insurance only covers you for driving on public roads.

Public car parks where you pay to park are different tom where you park for free. This information was given to me by an Insurer. Free car parks display a notice explaining that no responsibility is given by them or their insurers whist parked on their premises.

thats true if you don't accept liability, they would have to take up a private case, but if your fully comp then the insurance company will pay yours anyway and then try through the courts for any other costs off of the other driver

No, wrong.

The Road Traffic Act was amended in 2001, making public car parks technically part of the highway, to allow exactly the type of claim you are talking about.

Not true. Someone ran into my Ford Ranger at the mall a couple years ago, causing substantial damage. Her insurance company sent me a check covering the entire amount of the damage within a month. Since it was her fault, there was no deductible involved.

You should check your facts out before making such a broad assertion.

Yes. Did you know that if you use your car to travel to and from work daily, and you are insured on a Social Domestic and Pleasure policy, that you aren't covered for a prang on the way to work either?!!

You must be covered
as it is open to the public,
otherwise you would have
all the cowboys driving around
the car park damaging cars and getting away with it
say no more??

Actually you are wrong - there is no limit on where in the UK you are.

Try reading the insurance policy rather than listen to tittle-tattle, heresay and other urban legends.

Not necessarily true! But I'd cheek with my insurance company, and if they say "yes", then it's time to find a new insurance company!

Would you care to back that up with some actual evidence?
What country are you in? That's not the case in the UK.

I am sure you are incorrect and you would be covered by your insurance company.

And cops cant give you a ticket either. its private property. Dont tell them that they will get pissed and give you another ticket. Get a lawyer and see if you can win.
