I am having my first baby May 08. I know I can't claim until next years taxes. I was trying to get a ball point estimate on how much I would get back. I live in California, live with my father. I am 21 years old. I am a single mother. Let's say for 2008 I would only make around $3-4000 for the year? Anyone have any ideas?

A friend gave me a gift card to sell on ebay (they don't have an account) and told me to send the proceeds to a specific charity instead of writing them a check, cashing it, then they have to write out another check to the charity. Can I send the proceeds to the charity and have them use the receipt from the donation at tax time for the deduction??

Bought a condo late this year but plan on changing my exemptions for the 2008 tax year since i would not have enough itemize deductions for this year.

Will be filing as single and estimate my mortgage interest will be around 13-14 thousand and my property tax will be $3,500.

How many exemptions should I claim, Last year I claim 1 and got back 500 dollars.

I think i should be filing 3 or 4. Is 4 too much?

I live in Illinois and work in Missouri, and my employer didn't withhold ANY state taxes throughout 2007 (even though I specifically requested the deduction several times).

As of my last check, my gross pay is about $25,000 and my federal withholdings are about $3,000. (I have a much better job starting in January.)

Unfortunately, as I am under 25 and don't have any children, I don't qualify for any earned income credits or child tax credits. I have, however, paid well over $2,500 in student loan interest throughout the year and purchased a home in May.

What will I owe for state and federal taxes, and are there any tax credits that I could qualify for?

My parents make less that 110,000 a year and I make no where near 55k/year. I was wondering who would be eligible for the write-off me or them?

Another question... Can I claim both the hope tax credit AND the student loan interest tax deduction?

If not what taxes would you pay and if you sell the domain next year (2008) are you exempt from CGT under the rule that if you fall into the 10% to !5% tax bracket you pay no CGT in 2008. This would be in the United States.
Obviously we would make a profit from the sale of the domain name.

Taxes are taken out first from your paycheck. Then when you buy something you are taxed by state, county, and federal sales taxes. Why the three different taxes shouldn't their just be one? Why should an employee even be taxed when the empoloyer is supposed to pay and the products are taxed ahead of time so companies should not have to pay either. Then there is property taxes do we really just rent from the government why even buy land at all there is a sales tax on that and then a yearly tax. Is that right? Then personal property tax you bought the stuff once and paid taxes on it when you bought it right so why would you have to pay it yearly? So when is it possiple to evade taxes? Is the Government really just profiting on the people and are we really just slaves to the government? So is tax evasion really possible? What are your thoughts on this?

- Increase the winning odds, cap the winnings to a million or so, limit the monthly amount spent on tickets....people to the right/left of you are suddenly winning jackpots, & people who don't want to participate also win by paying no tax!!!
