You have to claim yourself...And it will depend on where he lives and how much was taken out. The more you have taken out the better chance you have of not having to pay.

If he had enough withheld, then he won't have to pay - if he didn't have enough withheld, then he will. If he claims zero on his W-4 then he's probably OK.

It totally depends on how much he has had withheld during the year.
