Hi again
I got a PELL grant and spent around $2100 of it in getting a used car. Do i have to declare it as income on my 2007 return because the reason i bought it was to commute to the school i am transferring to.
If i do declare it, instead of getting a refund of $19 i will have to pay the IRS $300

what do you recommend?

Hi
On my paycheck next to Federal it says "S02" and next to CA it says "S00" What does that mean.

I also heard that you need to change your W4 if you get a raise.
I was earning $12.2 per hour and now its $16.12 per hour.

Should i change it, or let it be?

My husband made about $5,500 before he was laid off earlier this year. On unemployment he got a little over $9,500. Unemployment wasn't taxed so will we even get a refund? We have two children and thanks to the layoff we are about to lose everything!
I looked online but can't find any way to estimate what we might get back if anything.

I am wanting to claim 60,000 in total earnings. I was wondering how much I would have to pay in. I am not head of household I go to school, I have one child, and I live in Indiana. I want to know an estimate of what I will be paying in to state and federal taxes. I am also wondering if they do this in monthly installments if I don't have the finances right away. If so how much?

I collect any receipt that has sales tax, and it's becoming a mess.
Are these actually worth anything? If they are, how are they redeemed?

I just want to make sure I understand everything regarding the AMT. You can file/get refund in mid Jan. if you DON'T use one of the following 5 forms (Education Credits, Residential Energy Credits, Child and Dependent Care Expenses for Form 1040A Filers, Mortgage Interest Credit, District of Columbia First-Time Homebuyer Credit). If you DO use one of those, they expect to be able to process those around Feb. 11.

Am I correct?

Regarding the child care expense, is that the form for when you pay for child care (day care) and can get reimbursed some of it?

I normally do my taxes on the first day they accept them, but since I have 2 children in daycare, I think this means I have to wait......right?

I thought my quartly taxes were 15.3% medicare PLUS whatever my income tax would be but the rep. are IRS said that if I just multiply my income times 15.3% that should cover all of my taxes, income and medicare due on my income. Concerned that she may have been wrong I called and spoke with a different IRS agent who told me the exact same thing. Is that right?
