Last year in February, my sister moved into my apartment with her four kids (two are hers by birth and two are her boyfriend's kids) My sister didn't lose her job, but she has been saving money, so I had been taken care of the bills, food, and other neccesities. I have been buying clothes for all four kids. I do not want to commit fraud in any way, so I'm asking is it possible for me to claim the two children that are not hers

As anyone on Social Security will tell you even though they get a bit more money each year it is far less then the cost of living. So yes the Federal SS system instead of being cut off at once is being fazed out and state aid is replacing it so to speak. The deal with State aid is you can have little assets in order to recieve it. So to live a decent life you will need assets outside of the Money system before you become disabled and have to live on state aid for some two years before you can get SS income started. Besides Gold and silver what some other things one could have to get monies out of your name.

Do the Native American-Indians pay any taxes (federal, property...)? Any link with some info about the American Indian tax rules would be very helpful. Thanks.

I just watched this video about how there is no law stating that we have to pay an income tax. What does that really mean? We all know that if we don't pay taxes, we go to jail. Netters, what is your opinion on this?

I once worked as an independent contractor (We're talking about 8 years ago). The person who hired me then told me that as long as my pay was under $600 that he wouldn't need to give me a w-2.

Now I run a small company that just grew enough to hire independent workers, and I need to know if I have to make w-2's for them.

SO, is there an amount where I DON'T have to provide a W-2?

My father died earlier this year and I am the beneficiary. I received life insurance and got a 401K that I closed out. I know life insurance is not taxable. My problem is I don't know if my father has filed taxes in the past or not. He lived in LA and had little to do with his family. I believe that he might also owe back child support in WA. Will that affect me?? How do I find out??

I need it for the 2007 year, my former employer says that it will be mailed to my address that they have. I have moved since changing jobs and no longer have access to the mail at the old address. After they have been mailed, I can get a replacement mailed to my current address from my former employer for a 10.00 replacement fee. But I don't know how long thats going to take.

So I am 17 years old, I go to high school as a senior. Currently living with both my parents. They support me 100% I made 5216.70 this year before taxes. My earnings statement (tax section) saids:

Social Secuirty tax - 323.44
Medicare Tax - 75.64
Oregon Wbf Tax - 9.26

I’m curious to know what tax deductions I can take in the following situation, if any:

I own rental property. In the past 12 months (and 2 tenants), I did not receive rent for a total of 4 months (I’ve had great luck with tenants this year!). Also, the rent is only ¾ the mortgage, so I pay ¼ of the mortgage out of pocket every month.

I know I can deduct maintenance and repairs on the home. Can I deduct proprty management fees, leasing fees, court fees for the evictions and is there any deduction for the loss of the 4 months of rental income while a tenant was still occupying the property during the eviction process?

Please let me know if more information is needed for a more accurate answer, and thank you in advance for any information.
