No, not this year.

The President typically gives Federal employees an extra day off when Christmas falls on either a Tuesday as it did this year or on a Thursday as it will next year.

That's usually not the case with New Years though. The last time that the President gave an extra day off for New Years was in 1973 under President Nixon.

Even when an extra holiday day off is declared by the President it only applies to Federal employees. The usual closings of Federally chartered banks are not covered under the executive order that gives Federal employees the extra day off.

no new years eve is not a hoildaay federally but some businesses shut dont ( fatories and ware houses)
