is it possible/elect not to pay the SUI/SDI tax?

i have just started working and this is my first job in this country and my pay check says NJ SUI/SDI tax deductions.
can i elect not to pay that tax????

No, it is mandatory.

The only optional tax I've ever enountered is the 5% church tax in Germany, and it's only recently been optional. Other than that, all taxes are mandatory.
