If you can not get copies of the Froms W-2 or a year end pay statement from your employer, call IRS at 800-829-1040 and request they send you an Information Returns Transcript which will have all your W-2s, 1099s or other information documents listed.

Both companies should be able to provide you with copies. And if for some reason you can't get them from them, try the IRS.

The companies should be able to get them to you quickly, but it depends on where they have them stored and how well they are filed.

The best thing to do is to request, in writing, a copy from your employer. It is possible from the IRS but that can take a lot of time and you need to go your employer first. Employers must keep this information indefinitely.

why didn't you make copies of your w-2's and tax returns? Those companies should have w-2's to make copies for you , but they can charge you for the service - you're supposed to hold onto all that paperwork for 3+ yrs in case of an audit.
