I haven't gotten my W2 for 2006. I only worked for them until March 2006, and I dont have any pay stubs. I have contacted the IRS and they were going to write them a letter. Well, months later, nothing has happened! Anyone know a help line? A website to report this? another IRS help line?

It used to be that if you earned under $600, an employer did not need to file a W-2. Is there still an amount like that? If so, what is the current amount, and what IRS document would contain that information

My nephew wants to earn some money through either a cafepress account or by selling Google ads on his blog. He is currently fifteen years old. If he does this, does that mean he has to file for income tax? Also, what is the age and/or amount of income "line" that decides when one needs to begin filing income tax?

It baffles me that just because you don't make a lot of money and happen to have a kid, the government can actually pay you! I can see giving people a break and lowering the taxable percentage to little to nothing, but PAYING them to be poor? No thanks.
I do not have kids, but I am married.
I am against married couples getting a tax break as well.
Another interesting element--I am a registered Republican, and am generally opposed to high taxes as a whole.
But rewarding people for having children they cannot afford seems a little ridiculous.
Let the roasting begin.

A friend and I started a free ezine. A person is willing to pay us to advertise her book in our ezine. Do we have to legally pay income taxes on this? We were thinking about asking around $16 a year, because that is the price of the book. Penny for your thoughts!

A friend of mine said if I make a certain amount of income selling on Etsy.com I have to pay taxes on it. Is this true, and if so, what kind of taxes would I be paying, and how much? Also, would your age matter, for instance, if you were under 18 would you be charged special taxes?

My elderly father died in 2007. What is my obligation as the executor to see if prior years' tax returns have been filed (and taxes paid)? I can find no direct evidence that federal or state returns were filed, but I also see no evidence that are are any open audits, tax judgments, or liens. I know I can request 4 years of transcript data and 10 years of copies of prior returns (at the federal level), but do I need to "reach back" that far? I have insufficient data to reconstruct whatever is necessary. I am uncomfortable with filing the 2007 returns and waiting until the tax authorities send me a notice for prior years.
