H&R Block is offering a line of credit beginning on Dec 10. This is a line of credit, not a loan, and it is possible that it can be extended to a year-round line of credit for emergencies and such. There is a $500 limit, but you only pay interest on the money that you actually use. Interest rates are much lower than that of the payday loan type places.
To find out which offices will be available near you, please call 1-800-HRBLOCK, or go to HRBLOCk.com. Jackson Hewitt does not own a bank, so they are unable to offer similar services this year.

Contact your local H&R Block. Don't contact Jackson Hewitt. Some locations will take your information and schedule you for an appointment for which you will show up only to find that they have not even perused your paperwork after several weeks. I wouldn't waste my time with them - again.

There are no preseason loans this year based on your anticipated refund. You may apply for a loan based on your refund in January, if you have your income documents.
The preseason loans have been discontinued by the banks offering them.
There is a preseason line of credit for former clients of H&R Block. Details are on their website hrblock.com.

It has changed from last year, but H&R Block is doing something this year beginning in early December. Be aware that this will be a high fee, very high interest loan.
