because of health reasons I claimed early retirement, but did still work a little part time. I know that I have to file on that, but do I add in SS. Found out that either way I will get some EIC, but will be more if SS is added in.

I filed my federal returns last night using TurboTax. I took a qualified early distribution from my Roth in 2006 for 1st time homebuyer. The TurboTax never gave me the option to complete form 5329.
Should I amend it or wait to see if the IRS will send me correspondence?
Does anyone know how to get to Form 5329 on TT....I could not get it based upon the questions they asked me.

Sorry to be bugging the gurus of Yahoo, but I have another (and quick) question:

When filing for taxes, I am in theory not required (though it is highly suggested) to file taxes if my EARNED income is less than $5150

Question: Is Earned Income literally how much I actually got paid on my pay checks (you know, minus any federal tax, health care, etc.) during 2006?

My husband has court papers that state he may claim his son (who lives with the mom) every year as long as he is current with child support. He is current to the penny. This is the third year in a row that the mom has called and said she claimed him already. I think my husband should still claim him as he legally has permission from the courts. Should I send documentation (court papers and status of child support payments) with the return?

I, like many people, have been waiting on my W-2s to come in the mail. Yesterday, 2-03, when I still hadn't received them, I called my former employer. He said he wasn't planning on sending them out and that I would have to come pick it up. I now live out of state and this is going to be an inconvenience for me. Does anyone know the consequences of not meeting the January 31st deadline? Thanks!

I live in Michigan and have heard in the past there there is something called "Renter's Rebate" that allows me to deduct my rent payments from my taxes. I'm not sure if this is a federal tax or state tax filing, or even if it exists. Anybody know?
