I just sat down to do my taxes and I am shocked that last year I got over 4000 fo my EIC Now this year I am getting 1500 every things the same. did the GOV drop the rate?

Either you made an error on one of the returns, or your earned income or withholding is quite different. The EIC hasn't changed much from 2005 to 2006.

If he does not qualify for the EIC and you do, you should claim the kids, as long as both of you agree to it. You file single with 2 dependents. The the IRS will take what you owe from your refund so you can be squared up with them.

There hasn't been much change.

The ages of your qualifying children CAN impact your eligibility and the amounts of the EITC, Child Tax Credit, and Additional Child Tax Credit. It's also possible that you filed for advance payment of the EITC from your employer. That would be figured into your refund as well.
