In Canada, do you still have to do your taxes even if you didn't make anything this past year or didn't make enough to make the first tax bracket? (I'm a student)

Why is Gas/Petrol consistently more expensive on average than the gas/petrol price averages in the States? Is it because of higher taxes in Canada or is the refining process more expensive? Or could it be a supply and demand problem in Canada?

My boyfriend wants me to file as commonlaw. He is still married, but legally seperated. He has already filed his 2006. We had lived together all year. However he claimed seperated on his tax forms. So now it's my turn to file...do I claim commonlaw or single.

I sent in mine and my boyfriend's income taxes via netfile a few weeks ago. We have both only received part of our return (direct deposit) with the strange part being that they withheld exactly $486 from each of us. Should I be expecting a cheque in the mail for the remaining amount? I also moved since the last time I filed taxes, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. If you need any more details let me know, but I think I included everything. Thanks in advance!!!

The company is registered and trades in the UK but I could still work for them if I move with my husband because most of the work is done via email. He will be getting a work permit until his Provincial Nominee Program application is completed but will I need one too? I won't be taking a job away from a Canadian person. The alternative would be to become a consultant for the company but then again, would I need a work permit? Any help appreciated.

high to cover the cost of it and that you have to wait a long time for care because of it being universal. Is that the case-please tell me about it and why it is good or not so good!
