Why is Gas/Petrol consistently more expensive on average than the gas/petrol price averages in the States? Is it because of higher taxes in Canada or is the refining process more expensive? Or could it be a supply and demand problem in Canada?

we work of the world price in canada and yes the taxs on gas are really high 2/3 of the price is tax.ottawa looking after our intrests ya know

This has been true ever since I can remember. There are plenty of oil resources in Canada and both Canadian and American companies trying to tap into them.
