I know I don't pay taxes to the US because I'm here on a visa. But I'm pretty sure I need to pay taxes to Canada. Does anyone have any information about this, I am totally lost when it comes to this subject and I don't want to end up owing an insane amount of money later on. I've searched websites and tried calling different numbers with absolutely no luck. Can anyone help me?

I've always dreamed of moving to Canada (currently in the US as a permanent resident). I would really like to take up a full-time job in Canada, in the field of Software. But I talked to a few friends who have worked in Canada (under non-immigrant visa) & they tell me that the salary is not as good as what one could make in the US (which I can understand), but also they say that the actual salary earned is only 30% of what the company pays at best, and the remaining 70% goes off as taxes! Which is worse than that in the US.

Is that true? Do you really earn very little and pay lot of taxes, if you work in Canada as a non-immigrant?

So, I got hired at a grocery store 3 weeks ago. During the first week on Thursday it was payday for everyone else. Now it's 3 weeks in and pay day is this Thursday. I've been there 3 weeks now, so will I get held back on this Thursday coming up? I don't see why I would since but some are saying I will, some are saying I won't.

My husband and I are both US citizens who are interested in moving to Montreal Canada. My husband is afraid of being double taxed on his pension and Social Security benifits. How would the tax treaty affect his income? How can we figure out how much tax he will pay while in Canada? I am not currently working but will seek work after landing in Canada.

I won $500 in this online hockey pool last year and they said that because I was a non-resident (US company run pool), they would have to withhold 30% of the winnings. I fill out a W-8 and they give me $350. Can I (should I, or is it worth it to) reclaim the $150 easily? not so easily? etc... would like to find out. Thanks!

Whenever hubby gets OT pay he only gets about half of it, which really sucks because he works so hard for it. So technically if he works an extra 48hrs then for 24-25hrs he works for us and the other 23-24 hrs, he works for the government. They really should be taxing people the same way as their regular pay, the tax on their regular pay is already high enough (I noticed that nobody really ever pays attention to this). What is your opinion? anyone feeling this?

If you live in Ontario or even Canada you will know what im talking about. Toronto being the conceited city that they are, wants to toll people coming in to Toronto. Now is that fair if your the kind of person that lives outside of T.O. but works in Toronto. I think because of it many cities will retaliate then what will this world come to.
