I worked for an insurance company as a sales agent. I was paid commisions as an advance to the policy holder paying their premiums. I had an agent account which basically showed what they advanced me. As premiums came in it was taken off the account. When you leave this company and you have a balance in your account, no renewals are paid to you(off your account). If you terminate contract before 2 yrs. you get no renewals regardless of account balance. I ended my contract after 1 yr. I had a balance of 5,000 dollars in my account, money they advanced me. They demanded immediate payment of account with threats of collection. Even though my policy-holders were still paying in. I ended up claiming this on bankruptcy, 1 1/2 yrs later. Than I found out my sales director turned this in as earned income to IRS. They are now coming after me to pay on money I never earned. Help me...I have tried to explain but they don't understand how insurance payment works. Am I wrong?

I am thinking to buy a textbook (2 volumes) from amazon Canada and even with the shipping costs it works out at £180 compared with £291.21 if I buy it from amazon Uk.
So would I have to pay VAT, custom duty or any other charge on the books when I receive the items in UK?

I joined an online company a couple of months ago, I have made profits, and I was wondering how I go about filing taxes for it. I filled out a W-9 with them before I was qualified to receive commissions, if that means anything.

I live in Georgia and was wondering about how to handle state taxes as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

How much will I get back on my Income taxes if I am single and made 47000 and paid 12500 in all taxes.

I also bought a house, I do not know if that makes a diffrence. The interest for the payments for the house is about $2500 for all of my payments, and I paid around $3500 in closing costs.

I work at cold stone creamery.. Someone told me that our tips get taken out of our paycheck, so I looked and they do. I only make 6.50 and min wage is above that, so our "tips" are supposed to even it out and bring us up to like 7 bucks. Also, my boss splits our crews tips up. Say I work most of the day and I make 10 bucks in tips. Well if the other girls come in, they don't make anything, (even if they did it would still apply) my 10 bucks get split up between us all. I don't think thats fair.

Anyways..can someone explain to me how tips and tip taxing works? And how that comes out of the paychecks? AHHH HELP!

I am currently thinking of moving from Rhode Island to the Fort Myers area in Florida. I'm selling my home for $369,900 and my property tax this year was $6,734. I would like to find a home in Cape Coral or Lehigh Acres for a little under $300,000. What should I expect for property tax in Florida compared to Rhode Island?

I live in Southern Cali (I have no car folks, lost my car in a car accident in 2003) and I had to start working somehow. So, I started tutoring to make a few dollars come in...less than $200 a month.

I was told from H&R Block that if a single person earsn less than 6K or 5K a year, then that person does not have to report those earnings to the IRS. What happens if you earn $180 a month-or 2K a year?

What about unemployment? What will they say? it's not like I'm rolling in the dough and I don't have my own transportation. Yes--I'm looking into car pooling, but-that is a different question.

If you want to criticize me-please do it some place else. I didn't come on this to get that.

We bought a house 1 year ago, paid $170,000 for it, spent about $10,000 on improvements and expect to sell it for $200,000. I want to buy a small horse farm about 40 miles from where I am now and go into business for my self - would the profit off the sale from my house be subject to capital gains or do I have to wait until I've lived in the house 2 years? Also if I get my projected price of $200,000, what would I be looking at paying in capital gains if liable? Keep it simple please - I'm blonde and crap with numbers! :-)
Cheers

I do vinyl graphics, mostly for businesses (until now under the table) do I need to charge sales tax?

What if I sell on eBay?
What if it's to a business?
What if it's out of state (Ohio)?
Do I charge sales tax for the actual product only, or do I charge sale the for the whole amount including application fees?
Do I need a tax ID from a business if they are tax exempt?

Sorry so many questions, I don't want to mess up.

I noticed during open enrollment that my employer did not deduct the right amount for our medical and dental benefit, am I liable for the additional amount or do they have to cover the difference since it is their error? Also, is it advisable that I tell someone and if I am not liable for the difference is there anything I can reference in my defense? Thanks in advance.
