You are self-employed. Who is going to pay it?

(UK answer) If you are actually a self-employed individual working contracts your contracter has no requirment or liability for your maternity provision.

If you are doing temporary work as an employee the answer depends on your start date and expected week of confinement (due date), and earnings during the qualifying period. Unless the temp contract is for > 6 months you are generall fairly unlikely to qualify.

If your are doing temporary work as an employee of an agency then the answer is above except it will be dependant on your start date with the agency (and not any individual contract you have worked on).

Note you always have a right to Maternity leave - even where you have no SMP entitlement. Also some contracts of employement may allow for more generous provision than the statutory minimums.
