Last year we did a massive house remodel, but did not deduct the energy efficient windows and doors, as our tax preparer didn't ask us about them. As I was doing my own taxes this year, I see that that is an option to make those deductions. Can I deduct what we did last year on this year's taxes if I still have the receipts and did not make the claim last year?

What does the IRS say about moving into a property that was purchased as an investment? I have a fourplex, and one of the units will soon be vacant and I'd like to live there myself. If I did that, could the IRS go back and ding me for the capital gains on the original property that I sold in order to buy this one? Also, can I continue to claim depreciation on the three remaining units?

I am an U.S citizen but my parents and sibling are not. They are also living in the other country. Is it possible to claim them as my dependent which they really are, and also be able to deduct the amount ($15,000) that I sent over to them to support their living last year while filing income taxes?
Thank you very much. Any help is appreciated.

My taxes were done by HR Block and supposed to be filed electronically. My claim were rejected by IRS because they say that someone has claimed me as a dependent. HR Block is now filing by mail and they say that they are straightening this out after I sign over power of attorney to them, My question is whether or not I have the right to find out who this person is.
