I have a question on taxes and social security or FICA taxes..Okay i am a member of a strict religious order and I also work a side job. One of the strict tenants of our prder is that we possess no wordly possessions and all money that I earn must be given over to our monastic order. I would like to ask if there is any paperwork i can file that would hand my paycheck over to our priests without income taxes or FICA taxes being taken out. because i am violating a oath I took to give our order everything I earn. Please help as i am conflicted on this

Here's the situation... I'm a full-time student that lives with his mother. My mother has privatized retirement, and as for me, I work part-time and, this last year, I started a home-based small business. Seeing as how my part-time job doesn't reach the taxable limit for income and my business is not yet profitable, would is be possible/recommended for me to combine all three entities when I prepare my mother's taxes?

I'm doing my parents taxes. My mom for some reason decide to withdraw all of the money out of her Roth IRA. Well, now on her 1099-R sent by the bank, the distribution code is a J, early distribution from Roth IRA without known exception. I know she will get penalize that 10%, however, according to the IRS Form 1040 line 15 instruction. It said that the distribution is taxable unless the code is either T or Q. So it practically saying she will get tax on her distribution & get penalize 10% on top of that. My question is, am I reading this right? Roth IRA is your after tax money that you put in, why does the distribution become taxable now? Anything she can do to minimize this situation?

I have a non profit organization that had a net income of -590.00 with less than $100.00 of revenue in 2006. This is NOT a 501(c)(3), so it's not a tax exempt company, yet. Which forms do I need to file?

This is my first time trying to do my taxes and I want to do them thru turbo tax. I am looking for trubo tax premier 2006. I would like to know how to get it for free, either to download it or thru cd. If not, is there a place where I can get a sample of how to file thru turbo tax. I would like to practice on it before actually filing. Thank you.

Recently reported, undeclared and unpaid income tax is worth $2680 per US household or $300 billion.

In a story a month ago in the LA Times, it was reported:

"A favorite tax dodge involves transferring funds to banks in countries with little or no income taxes and arranging the books so that all the profits seem to have been made there. Sen. Conrad said a single five-story building in the Cayman Islands, a notorious tax haven, was listed as the local address of 12,000 U.S. companies. Conrad said that while he was North Dakota's tax commissioner, he found an oil company that showed losses at every step of the marketing chain in the United States — but made up for it and then some in the Cayman Islands, even though it has only one employee there.

"That man is really a hard worker," Conrad said. "He's down there producing millions in profits when thousands of employees in the United States produce none".

Should the government do more to crack down on tax avoidance?

I have a daycare in my home, but not licensed (I don't watch enough kids to need to be licensed). When claiming my income, can I claim my utilities used, square feet of house used for daycare and hours daycare is open? How about food and supplies? Or can you only do this if you're licensed?

Where (how) do I find out if I filed a 1040 for 2005? I assume I would have qualified for a partial refund from the taxes withheld on a lump sum pension distribution. I cannot remember filing (it was a bad year or two). I'm sure I must have done it but what a miracle to find out I was still owed. Thanks

Hi, i just filed a return but forgot to add an addtional w2. I have already cashed both the federal and state checks. After filling out the 1040x form. The federal refund is the same, but the state refund is less the amount i just cashed. Do i write a check to the state for the difference? And when mailing my 1040x, do i need to send my 1040 to federal and my 540 to state?
