Where (how) do I find out if I filed a 1040 for 2005? I assume I would have qualified for a partial refund from the taxes withheld on a lump sum pension distribution. I cannot remember filing (it was a bad year or two). I'm sure I must have done it but what a miracle to find out I was still owed. Thanks

If you don't have acopy of the return, and can't remember who or how you filed, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 Mon-Fri from 7am to 10 pm. They can review your account and send you a transcript of your return if you did file, and if you didn't file you can request the income information so that you can file

you may report your 2005 tax return, probability is that in case you probably did no longer owe money this 12 months you will no longer owe money for 2005. in case you do no longer owe money the reality which you filed late, or under no circumstances, isn't a undertaking. Our government merely needs money and can desire which you probably did no longer report in case you have been to be rewarded a return.

Call the IRS and ask them. If you filed and were owed, you should have had your refund by now or gotten a letter saying why you weren't getting it. But in a bad year, things can get overlooked.
