Despite the fact that I think Bush is a Godless murderer, I still want to help this country by donating my entire refund to the government this year. I have tried to pay the government back for the assistance it gave me many years ago with the birth of my children and they would not accept my money. Will they allow me to donate my refund to the war?

Hi,

I moved from Georgia to Washington state in the month of Jan 2006. I didn't realize that Washington State does not have a state income tax. I had been paying state income tax until Aug 2006 after which I changed my state to be Washington State.

I almost paid around $2,300 on Georgia State Income tax. I would like to reclaim that money now as I didn't live in Georgia from Jan 2006 - Aug 2006 and unnecessarily paid the tax to state of Georgia.

Can you please tell me how can I solve this issue ?

Thank You,

Tech stocks killed me in 2000 and 2001. But it seems at the rate of $3000/year in deductible losses, it will take me a lifetime to offset the losses to my income that I should have been able to take the first year. Are there any tricks or ways to take my losses now without having to spread them out at $3000 a year.

My daughter's father is NOT the custodial parent and claimed my daughter on his taxes. He asked if he could claim her and I told him no. Is there anything I can do about this? I've talked to a tax friend and he said I couldn't claim her now and there is nothing I could do about it. I haven't filed taxes yet. I'm afraid that if I file and claim her that I'd look like the "bad guy."

I have inherited 5 homes. I would really like if someone knowledgeable could tell me at what rate I would be taxed yearly if I were to rent them out ( which I am soon ). If it helps, I am single and make about 100k a year residing in NM, USA. Yahoo answers is the best and this is why I came here first. = )

Thanks in advance.

How do I prove that I provide over half of the support for a child. I live with my fiance and pay half of everything. I also pay for clothing, etc. for the child. I am really her sole provider, but having a hard time proving it. I mean my receipts aren't split in half, so what do I do????

I just want to add that this child was placed with me thru a state agency, she is my sister. I don't understand why I have to go thru all of this, I am her sole custodian.

I think I will just give up on this refund for this year, next year I won't have to go thru this, because I won't qualify for EIC....

My former husband is general manager and V.P. (for 17 yrs.) at his place of work. The business, based in California, builds custom homes and also provides building services for new housing developments that are being built. The business is approx. 25 yrs. old and is successful.

The last few years he and his boss (the business owner) go 'off shore' (as he calls it) to do the business taxes. They recently returned from a weeks stay in the Camen Islands...he said they were there for business and to tend to business taxes.

I was married for 23 yrs. and now peacefully divorced 4 yrs. While I don't care for or talk much with my ex . . . we are still overall fine and amiable with each...our conversations only relate to our three kids (ages 14, 17, 20).

Why would a business go outside the United States to do their taxes? Seems odd to me and would like to understand.

Any answers or insight ?
.
