Even if you already have a job and are merely seeking one in a different part of the country? I recently had an interview about 400 miles from home, so I drove 800 miles to attend it. If this is a tax deductible expense, how is it deducted- by the cost of gas or by mile?

I am 23 full time student who just got married in January 2007. The two questions I have for 2006 IRS Tax Filing are:

1. Do I file as Single (for yr 2006) or as Married filing jointly (Keep in mind I got married in January of 2007 & not in 2006).

2. If I can file as Single since I wasn't married in 2006 can my parents claim me as a dependent and claim Earned Income Credit for me?

I request for genuine and honest answers as this is IRS related questions. Thanks in advance!!

I'm using online Turbo Tax. My W-2 has a box 40 for FSA health care, but Turbo tax does not give the option of entering that. Could this be entered in box 10 (FSA Dependent care benefits)?

I'm a mortgage banker whom has been working with a lot of high networth clients whom tend to be business owners and real estate investors that have very complicated tax returns. I'm looking for a book/guide that will help me become an expert on the them. I understand the schedule E's and the transfers from the corporate Schedule K's to the personal is supposed to be the only income I can use plus adding back the deprecation (the basics) , but I'm looking to get very savvy with this and was looking for a suggestion?

Its more fun debating with underwriting when your argument is crisp. Thanks for your help.

My company have been administering for salary incorrect for 6 years. They have been deducting my pension contribution from my taxable income and I have been paying tax on the lesser amount. They tell me that as their financial year ends for four years have been closed and agreed the revenue cannot come back and chase me for those 4 years and that I only have the last 2 years to worry about. Is this correct re the revenue and who should pay - I dont think it should be me?

We all live together now but my problem is that they want to move to the next state over because of problems with this house. I want to stay living in this state so that I can go to the college I want to go to. I'm already 18, if that should matter with anything. They're telling me I can't live in this state with someone else if they wanted to claim me on their taxes since I'd be living with another guardian.
