Despite the fact that I think Bush is a Godless murderer, I still want to help this country by donating my entire refund to the government this year. I have tried to pay the government back for the assistance it gave me many years ago with the birth of my children and they would not accept my money. Will they allow me to donate my refund to the war?

My refund will be about $4,000 folks. This is no small donation nor is it without sincere intent of helping to save this once great nation. I would ask that all people consider doing this if you can afford to.

I'm not sure I like this, but here is the answer to the question as provided by Steven F.

Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 6D37
Hyattsville, MD 20782

We have also received numerous inquiries from individuals who wish to donate their tax relief checks back to the Government. In those cases, individuals should endorse the check and write "Pay to the Order of the United States Treasury" on the back of the check, and then mail it to the address shown above.

The link below is the US Treasury's answer to a similar question. The summary is, you can make a general donation to the government, but you can't designate it for a specific use.

Look into all "Charitable Trusts" before you donate anything. You want to make sure that it is legitimate prior to your donation. Visit the website from the State of California Office of the Attorny General or into your own State Headquarters and investigate the most appropriate place to donate.

But, that is just the begining! Donating to a charitable cause will also help you on your taxes the following year!

Yes, make the check out to the US Treasury and include a letter or note and they will accept it. It is admirable that you are doing this. I am so impressed by your action that I pledge to give my entire tax refund back also. Thank You for your leadership in this matter.

Why in God's green earth would you do that. Put the money aside for your children's education. Do not pay them back, that is what pubilc assistance is for. Save your money for the future, do not give this current administration a damn thing, they have done nothign good for us.

don't do it...
donate it to the Vetrans association in your state or to one of their hospitals.. it goes to the men and the families there... to help them get back on their feet..

I wouldn't give Bush a thing.. besides he will never know about the donation or give thanks for it..but the men that gave themselves for our country would deeply appreciate your support

no it doesn't quite work that way Jed Clampett. However if they are doing it you can buy War Bonds (not sure if they are doing it for this one or not) but if you really want to help the Government vote REPUBLICAN in the next election because if you do not your taxes will skyrocket.
