Hopefully I can word this correctly. I heard somewhere that if you own a home business, you can pay your child up to 5,000 per year for work completed around the office. I.e. clean the office, errands, etc. As long as the child is not paid over 5,000, they do not have to pay taxes. Is this correct?

My car was totaled on 7/21. On my 2005 tax return I listed it as <12% business use. Purchased another car on 9/8/06. Basically same usage but obviously more expensive car (newer). How is that handled tax forms wise?

Thank all of you for your answers, but some of you do not understand that my husband is in a wheel chair paralyzed on the right side, cannot verbalize, we are both drawing social security, which is not much, he does have a small amount of workman's comp., which is not taxable. I am his 24/7 caregiver so I cannot work and leave him alone. Does that answer some of the hateful answers I got? I don't like the situation, but it's there. Gone are the days when we paid up to $45,000 in income tax in a year. So those of you who are making rude comments, just be thankful you can pay income tax!!!

I don't understand the term "backup withholding" on the tax forms. I need to know whether to check the "exempt" box or not, etc. Thanks in advance!

I live in Illinois. Last year they screwed me out of my money, and this year I'm scared they'll do it again. I don't want to sit and wait, until it's too late!

How do I get a W2 from a former job????
I left a job on bad terms when i moved out of state. I was wondering if there was a way to get my W2 from the State without having to talk to a boss that is mad at me for leaving without notice. Any thoughts because I really don't want to talk to this former job at all.
