We had a CD for a very short time this year- it ended up only making about $25 in interest. How do i report that correctly? We are using the 1040A form, and I put it as earned interest, but do i need to include another form with it when i send it in to the IRS? I heard about a 1099- but with the amount being so minimal, is it necessary? Or would a copy of the form they sent me from the bank (for all i know it could be the 1099?) be sufficient?

We are located in Minnesota if that makes any difference.

He is just about to rob £1200 off me for tax I have already paid. This means I have just worked as a Healthcare Assistant at my local hospital during my time off (evenings and weekends) - after I have finished my highly stressfull office job, for nothing. I will tell them, again that I have already paid, but if I do get some of it back I will still have to wait a month or so. Anyone had a similar situation?

My father is about to sell his business and he wants to give some money to his two children. Any help would be appreciated. I have checked the UK Gov/HM Revenue & Customs websites but I can't get to grips with what you have to pay.

I paid for a presciption with a credit card in mid Dec. 2006 but didn't actually pay for it until after Jan. 1, 2007 - can I claim it for 06 taxes? This is the first year I've been able to itemize, usually we end up a few hundred under the standard deduction, we had more medical bills last year than normal. So odds are if I can't claim it for 2006 I won't be able to use it for 2007.
Thanks in advance!!

The government ratified amendment 16 in 1913 for the sole purpose of taxing corporations on the privilege of doing business in corporate form. -- http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/const...

Furthermore, from the annotations of the amendment, "[T]he Sixteenth Amendment conferred no new power of taxation but simply prohibited the previous complete and plenary power of income taxation possessed by Congress from the beginning from being taken out of the category of indirect taxation to which it inherently belonged.' 13 "

If you have any doubt, I challenge you to find IN WRITING a statute that gives the federal government the right to tax a person's labor and/or earned wages.

Nowhere in the constitution does it state the government can impose an income tax. That is why congress ratified the 16th amendment. BUT the 16th amendment does not allow the government to tax a person's wages.

I still allow my parents to claim me as a dependent to help them out. This past year I earned about $19k working over 6 months and had federal taxes withheld each pay period. After our accountant figured out my taxes, they claimed that my refund was only minimal (something like $200). Since my income this year was far more than what I've earned over the past few years, and since my parents can be kind of shady at times, I was wondering if they might be cheating me out of some of the refund. I know that being claimed as a dependent reduces your refund amount, but still, something feels off about it given the money involved. I live across the country from them and so I don't know if I'll be able to check out the tax documents without getting into an argument. I don't want to accuse them if it's likely they are telling the truth. Thanks.
