Ok, my husband is in the ARmy. We are stationed in OK but he claims CA as his legal residence. California DOES NOT tax military income if you are stationed out of state. Well somehow the Army screwed up and charged state tax on his bonus. It ended up being about $900 taken out of his check. He asked some finance lady today if there was anything they could do to get that money back but she said he would just have to wait until next year and file state taxes to get it back. Well, I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that if there is a mistake made calculating your taxes there should be a way to get them back besides waiting a whole year! This finance department isn't known for its customer service so I'm thinking maybe she just told him that because she didn't want to be bothered trying to figure it out know what I mean?Anyways, if anyone knows if it can be gotten back in any way instead of waiting until next year I'd appreciate any advice. $900 is a lot of money to have to wait on :(
