My husband and I already filed our taxes and are expecting a refund back on Friday. I recieved a 1099 in the mail today for a job my husband worked at for about a week last Jan. It is for about a $1000. How do I amend this on my taxes?

How do I get a 1040X? I filled at H&R block. Should I go back there or what?

Thanks...

If you had someone prepare your taxes for you, go to them. You may be charged for more fees though.

If you can, I'd do it on your own. You will need to get a copy of a 1040 X, Schedule C, and Schedule SE and your original return. You can download the forms at www.irs.gov. You can download the instructions to the 1040X as well. You will need to report what your original return was and then figure out what your change was. You will need to mail in the 1040X along with any forms that were affected by the additional income.

You might consider getting some additional help if you fee lost, but most places charge for this if you did have them do it originally.

Good luck!

i suggest that you wait until you receive your tax refund check so as not to put the cart before the horse. then i would file a 1040x amended tax return for 2006 including the income previously omitted and mail it in with your payment for the additional tax that will be owed on the additional income.

Go back to Block.

If you try to do this yourself, you will have to start from scratch and you will get it wrong.

Also....count on paying some of that refund back after it is done.
