I was extremely shocked to find that a friend hasn't filed a tax return in 3 years and actually asked me if I knew how to throw off the IRS from finding her. She has moved twice in the past 2 years and now the IRS sent her an address verification form to her last address which was forwarded by the Post Office to her current address in a different state. So, should she provide a false address and send it in to the IRS? I told her she was going to lose the game she's playing, that they would find her, but actually, now I'm kinda interested to see if "there is a way".

If I set up my CRT as a revocable trust, I should have legal rights to change my mind and revoke/change the trust anytime. So the money shouldn't get stuck forever as long as I'm still alive. However, the IRS may want a bite from any principal withdrawal. If so, how much penalty or tax would I need to pay?

Can I use the 1099s for selling a property less than a year, and if I own another property? Could I use the 1099s to deduct the sale of one property past mortgage interest, and the mortgage interest of the other home I will reside in? Can one use 1099s to sell only one property per year?

If I sell a home over two years, can I avoid some taxes, and if I own another home?

If I own two homes, and rent one out, would I be eligible for tax deductions on both homes mortgage interest?

I do my own taxes online each year using TurboTax (and have been really pleased with it!). This year, a few things are different for me. I have made some hefty investments in mutual funds, a Roth IRA, and I purchased a Life Insurance Policy. Do I need any information about these accounts for tax purposes?

I got a 1099 today from a company I tutor for and it doesnt look professional or even legal enough to pass for any kind of form that the IRS would accept as a document. (I have received several 1099's in the past from other companies and this is NOT what they've looked like before.)

The information is typed on a piece of 8.5 x 11 white piece of paper
The info appears to have been typed in Microsoft Word in a plain font.

In the left top corner is the company name and address.
Two lines under that is a social security number (not mine)
Then 2 lines under that is only my name, town, state and zip code (no address).
Then to the right of the address is the dollar amount I made for the year. That's it.

The owner of the company put a post-it note on it in the envelope with a note to me saying, "this is your 1099". Is this form legal and when I send it in to the IRS are they going to question this with me???

Thanks.
