H and R Block with the audit protection(or any other brands)? I run a real estate business where 100% of my income derives from rent collected from rentors. I also need a system that figures out depreciation on my investments, houses, farmland etc...
I've had my taxes proffessionally done and electronically filed the last few years and have been very satisfied and the bill from my accountant comes out to about $150.00 per year. I am self-employed and am supposed to be paying in quarterly but the penaltys are not that high from the IRS so I just do them all at one time.
Any advice would be appreciated!

I am newly married (less than a yr) and my hubby owes the IRS $$ because of an overpayment a few years ago. If we file together won't they claim the return for his debt? Is there a way to have tax forgiveness this time since we just found out about a mini audit. I thought I read somewhere that they wont claim the entire tax return since we haven't been married that long. Please only answer if you have experience with this or are a tax preparer. Thank You.

By filing electronically, I am saving the IRS a huge amount of time and money and helping them to avoid errors. Don't you think they should give us a small tax Credit or rebate for filing electronically? If you agree write to your congressman. PS-I file on paper until the charge is eliminated.

for ex. you don't file one year and the next you do but don't use last yrs w2. whether or not you are due a refund, you have 3 yrs to claim it or forfeit it. well, if you, unfortunately, owe, would you still have to pay if your 3 yrs have expired on this particular tax season? if you can't collect, why should they be able to after the 3 yrs have expired?

I'm used to having 38% of my income taken away in taxes here in NYC but after getting my bonus and seeing that nearly half of it was taken away in taxes ( 25% Fed, 7% State, 4% new york city, and another 7% in FICA, FMHI, SDI, etc.) I'm seriously considering a move to a more tax friendly city. Perhaps outside the 5 boroughs of NYC or even NJ. I think its ludicrous that people are taxed so high so that we can pay for "poor" people's medicine, food, and rent while they're sporting bling bling, drive Lexuses, and buy fancy brand ice cream at the grocery store. Any suggestions?

I bought a house about a year ago and I just recieved a form from the bank stating the amount of interest paid for the year. I found out that the bank is virtually reping us up. The interest taken for the year is five times the amount that goes towards the loan it self. Do you recieve anything back from this when filling taxes, or is there any way to go about it to reduce that big cake taken by the bank for no good reason?

My wife and I are filing separately because of the living situation we're in and we don't own a home. We both have contributed money to a local church organization, and would like to know what is the minimum you have to give to be able to claim the contributions as a deduction? Does that make sense? Also with me going to school this past year but having recieved financial aid and Ch. 35 veteran benefits (Father is 100% disabled Vietnam Vet) is it still possible for me to claim education credit as an exemption?

Thank You

Are there special tax filing requirements for a friend of mine who over the course of last year lost her husband and moved to another state? She had been listed as a dependent on her husband's taxes. Does she have to file taxes on her deceased husband's behalf? Would software such as Turbotax handle her situation or would she be better off having taxes done by a person such as HR Block or a CPA?

Thx.
