I was extremely shocked to find that a friend hasn't filed a tax return in 3 years and actually asked me if I knew how to throw off the IRS from finding her. She has moved twice in the past 2 years and now the IRS sent her an address verification form to her last address which was forwarded by the Post Office to her current address in a different state. So, should she provide a false address and send it in to the IRS? I told her she was going to lose the game she's playing, that they would find her, but actually, now I'm kinda interested to see if "there is a way".

What a dumb idea, to provide a phony address to the IRS in the hopes that this will throw them off her track. It will be no problem for the IRS to locate her.

If she actively tries to evade taxes, she is entering criminal territory. She should take her information to a preparer, get those taxes filed, and deal with whatever the consequences are.

If she has given her correct address to her employer, the IRS can get it from them. The only way I can think of is to leave the country.

Eventually she will be caught. If she owes taxes IRS will get what they feel is theirs. What I have always been told that there are three things in life you must do and that is live, die and pay taxes.....
