If you need forms and don't feel like going to the post office you can download and print your own forms.

Click here and print the forms you need from the IRS web site:

Generally, the US Treasury department (which the IRS is part of) mails out the tax instruction booklet which includes the forms sometime in January if not by February.

You can also go to www.irs.gov and download the forms themselves instead of waiting or go to the local post office or IRS office to pick up a copy.

They usually arrive around the first of the year. If you have been efiling, they won't send you forms the next year. If you need the paper forms or instructions, you can download them at irs.gov, pick up copies at your local post office or library, or call the IRS and they'll send you what you need.

Do they still mail them out? I used to pick them up at the post office, but now I e-file. Saves trees and time. Plus tax software today is very user friendly and safe.

Late December. But if you efiled, they won't send you the paper forms anymore. Sniff. It saves a tree, though.
