I was efiling but AL will not let me efile my nonresident (we are military family) forms. Printed them to send in, however, noticed my dependents were not listed on the AL form. Since they are on the AZ form, is there something that says I can't claim them for both states. I don't understand why I can't (but lotta tax things i dont understand, lol) Need to know if I should write them in and refigure my form before sending. Thanks!

My friend is on Social Security Income, she lives in Wisconsin. She is able to file for what is called Wisconsin HomeStead Credit. ( Doesnt matter what kinda income you have) She gives a Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP) to her lawnlord whom fills out the form and gives it back to her. With a rent of $475.00 a month she gets back about $800.00 on her tax refund. I have tried to find a simulair program in Colorado for my Father is on Social Securty Disabled Income. I have came across the same programs for other states. Having a hard time finding the info for Colorado tho. Can you tell me if it exists or where I can go to even find out. Please and Thanks for any help you can give me :) To First answer he is not a senior. To second, Its really difficult for me to just take your word for it and say okay there aint. Its offered by alot of other states. Is there anywhere you know of I can call or Look up the answer for a second opinion :| Sorry I just need to be really positive

I'm wondering how someone who had like 1500 dollars in federal tax withheld can receive 3300 dollars for a dependent. Does the government give you more then they take?

My Mother told me that if my tax refund was too large, the IRS would charge a penalty. I have never heard of such a thing, and she had no idea what that threshold was. Any ideas?

I was employed last year by a family owned bussiness. When I was first hired I was told that the first three months I would not have taxes taken from my check. After the three months, once she decided to keep me on the payroll, she would then have me fill out paperwork and begin to deduct taxes from my paychecks. She never did start taking taxes from me. Now it is tax time and I am not too sure what to do. She has not brought up anything about giving me a W2 or anything regarding taxes. If she does give me a W2 it will hurt me serverely because I will end up owing Uncle Sam. When I spoke to my in laws about this I was told that in order for her to get a tax break she has to claim that she payed an employee, therefore she will most likely want to give me a W2. My question is that doesn't she legally have to not only give the goverment some of my pay in the form or taxes but also match the money that is pulled from my paycheck for my social security?

This will be my first year for alot of things this year.I am no longer a dependent under my mother.I got married last year. And I had a baby.Same goes for my husband .We have no clue where to start.I read on here neither of us can claim head of household and we don't know why.Should we file seperate or together.Who should claim our daughter.I didn't work much last year due to I was pregnant. We are both in school also(if that counts for anything )I heard from somewhere that my husband could claim me because I was out of work during prenancy. What can we claim on our taxes is daycare or clothes something we can claim. We really just have no clue what to do and we want to be prepared .We don't want those tax people just telling us anything

I get paid A for actual hours worked, and B for Holidays, but my employer calculated my payroll taxes as if I was getting paid A for Holiday hours, even though I didn't. Is that legal?

I am planning to do H&R Block tax training course in Australia and as a part of the material they sent me, they say that if you score above 80% in the course, you get a chance to work for them as seasonal tax consultant.

Is this actually the case?

Also they say that if ur selected to work for them during the tax season, they provide you with additional training. What does this involve?

Also, what is the level of diffculty of the course and its assessment methodology?

My mortgage is $1550 per month and taxes are $6500 per year. I rent the house out for $1375 per month at a loss every month. BUT... If I file taxes reporting the rental home as an active income generator (at a loss) I can only deduct "X" dollars for my loss (this of course would include maintenance fees, home owners insurance, HOA dues, etc.). If I just deduct the mortgage interest and taxes I get a bigger deduction.

Is it OK for me just to deduct my interest and real estate taxes and get the bigger deduction? Or do I HAVE to report it as an income generating venture even though I take money out of my pocket every month just to hold on to the house?

How would the IRS look at it? The way I see it I get penalized for owning my home and renting it out. I guess I would have to be losing alot more money every month to make it work in my favor...

Any experts out there? Thanks.

I am in the military on active duty, but I was also a full-time student for all of 2006. When filing my taxes online, I can still check the box stating I was a full-time student (even though I also held a full-time job), right?
