My divorce was final in November 2006, I moved out of the house in Sept 2006. I turned the house over to him in a quick deed in our divorce. My husband is trying to claim all the interest deductions on his taxes and is telling me I'm not entitled to the interest because I turned the house over to him. Do I have rights to the deductions? What should I do?

ok, i plan on filing my taxes thru online program such as turbo tax...using my check stubs instead of w2 forms cuz i need money now and the forms will come too late. i have the stub for the job ive been at the last 8 months but what happens if i leave off the stubs from jobs i had early in the year. can i leave them off the tax report then when i get their w2 forms, go back and say "well i forgot about these" and file them separately?

We were told last year that we had to pay $5000.00 in interest before we claimed it on our taxes. Is this right?

Ok, here's the deal:

1. I will receive a 1099-Misc for $3,000 from organization X.

2. Throughout the year I received 3 $95 honoraria payments from organization Y, which I am not sure whether I will receive a 1099-Misc from.

3. I received a one time $200 service compensation from oraganization Z, which I am not sure whether I will receive a 1099-Misc from.

Note: Income from organization X will be declared on Schedule C of my 1040.

Questions:
1. Do I have to report income from organization Y and Z on Schedule C if I receive 1099-Miscs, eventhough, they are both less than $600?

2. If I don't receive 1099-Miscs, do I report the income from organization Y and Z on Schedule C?

My niece's (19) husband (19) works for his stepdad as 1099 and was paid cash all last year. He never paid any taxes and he made roughly 20K. They have a new baby (reason for marriage). I am concerned that they haven't paid anything. They said that they spoke to a tax preparer and he said that this isn't a problem. Is this true? I thought that you had to estimate and pay taxes quarterly. These are know-it-all teenagers and I'm afraid that they are going to learn another hard lesson.

We felt we were overpaying on our taxes for years. Our neighbor has a very similar house and his taxes were substantially less. We grieved it several times using his house as a comp and were denied. On the county's website it showed us that our house's sq. footage was off by 300 sq. ft. The county said it was a clerical error and that it will be fixed for the future tax rolls but, for what we already paid, they can do nothing. Anything we can do? Thanx.
