Small Business - August 2007

well i have been searching for some jobs and i found this company, and the work is done at home.....is this company any good or just a scam?

My dad has been a blue collar construction worker for most of his life. He knows the ins and outs of the construction business but I am trying to get him away from the housing market because it's so jacked up at the moment.

He's a hard worker but not tech savy at all. I'd like to help him stat up a business with an investment of like $50K that he can run and make a living off of and not have to worry about being emloyed.

This is not an invitation for all of those "Make Money in the Comfort of your own Home" responses.

I'm looking for idea on something that will start making returns immediately. Not huge returns just something he can live off of. Maybe a $2K a month to start off with.... Oh, no merchandise sales or anything like that if at all possible....

All ideas are welcome though.

Is there any way to make money at home on line where the "system" they are selling is not a bunch of bs? So far I have done research and they all seem like a bunch of bs that makes money for the company selling you the system and not you!

I'm 22 soon to be 23, and after searching and searching and waiting I've finally found an idea, that i'm comfortable and capable of doing.

Im doing school during the year, but in the summer of 2008, I want to implement the business. I plan on traveling to events throughout the midwest operating concessions. I think that beer has the best profit potentional. Sure it's not a million dollar idea, but I think I can see an excellent return on my investment maybe 75-200%. My goal would be to make 15k to bank for the summer. I know all the things I must get like business license, and temp beer license etc.

Is my goal of 15k for maybe 5 events a month for umm..3 months feasible?

The letter was a complaint about this staff member, and of a confidential nature. My query is whether in a business situation this is covered by law or employment contract. Opening mail is part of her job, but reading mail out to non-addressed people is not.

My fiance and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to open a restaurant after we get married, we both love food, and have the work ability to run a small business. I am a wedding photographer and just found out I am pregnant. I have 2 weddings this will affect- one wedding I will be 8 months pregnant, and the other is actually on the due date. We just had a large Sweet 16 party.The lady that decorated the hall left as soon as the party was over.She expected us to pick up her decorations and return them to her.Before that she wanted our family to help her decorate and pick up some large decorations.We paid her half before the event and the rest right before it was over.She took the money and ran.
We were charged $100.00 for the hour it took US to take down the decorations.
The agreement was that she was going to do the whole thing.
Should we put a stop on the check we gave her and take her to small claims court for breach of contract ?

I co-founded a start-up. Business plan is in the work. I still need to work on the financial section. I know I should have a CFO work on it. But I don't have $$ to pay/hire a CFO. So I get to wear the finance hat too among other roles. Do you know of free finance spreadsheet templates I could download to use? Need to finish biz plan to show potential investors. Can't show current biz plan as is without figures. Biz plan doesn't mean anything to investors without 3 year financial planning such as revenue projection, dev't cost projection, marketing budget projection, potential # of people for hire, other related finance figures of interest to potential investor. I have designed semi prescious jewelry over 15 yrs. Have had lines in small boutiques, have won awards. All I hear is how gorgeous, how talented, OMG, how long did it take to do that? I had a web site 2 years, sold 3 items, was on Etsy 1 year sold 5 items, been on Picturetrail. 3 years just so there is a place where all my work can bee seen, and have sold nothing off there ever. Tried e-bay several times, never 1 sale. Go to juried shows only usually do (depending on area) between $150-$600. I use only grade A stones-Turquoise, Onyx, Malachite, Pearls,sterling /Bali silver.Every piece is one of a kind. Have done commissioned work-so why can't I sell? I realize competition is fierce, with all the China imports it is killing the artists, but this is rediculous! I am disabled & this is my main source of income, I tried to get a disabled womans grant, but that cost $ to have a small store at flea market. take a peak at site, maybe u can give me some help Anna

I have read the ebay magazines about the people who started doing it as part time or just to get rid of the stuff that they have and now do it full time. I would like to be able to clear out closets and make extra money - so far its really not working. I try to get rid of new popular items with tags and at bargains and even then = not takeers! Me and my girlfriend and her sister want to open up a bar/club in our area. We've taken into consideration many factors; licensing, zoning laws, location, etc. However, we want to be as prepared as possible, so can anyone help us brainstorm what else we should consider?
