Small Business - August 2006

My Dad owns a business. a guy skipped out on his bill. Dad wrote a letter. i think it's wishy washy. Names left out to protect identites. i need opinions & ideas on how to make it sound more serious.
Customers name,
We have submitted your check, number ####, for $225.00 to your bank twice & it was returned both times for insufficient funds. We called "name" on Saturday August 5, 2006 at your home phone in Some Town, USA & "name" told me to leave a message on his cell phone & he would take care of it on Monday August 7, 2006. I left the message but did not hear from "name". On Wednesday August 9, 2006 I called the home phone in Some Town USA & that number is no longer in service. I called "names" cell number & the message said the number was incorrect. I then called your bank in Some Town USA; they are not allowed to give info on their customers. If you would please correct this and send us a certified check before August 21, 2006 we would really appreciate it.

For a while now I have been thinking of opening my own restaurant. The city I live in ( Louisville, KY) all ready has all the restaurant you can think of. I thought that would be the cheapest buisness to open. Now I'm not sure. Then me and hubby thought about a skating rank. We look up some info on the web and found out that the average start up cost for that is a million dollars. Now I'm thinking of an internet buisness. That way I can stay home with my children. Now I'm looking for information on starting up an internet buisness. First of all do you pay taxes on it? Is it cheaper then starting a regular buisness? Also have any of you bought one of those online stores? You know the kind that is prestoked and you just pay like $40. I live in poverty and don't have any saving. Neither me or my husband have good credit. I don't see us having a good chance at getting a loan. Any ways thanks for your help in adavnce.

I want to start up a new business and compete with my current employer. I kind of feel bad. The reason I feel like I need to do this, is I have stopped growing with in the company. I have been with this company and all I Know is this business. Is it ethically and Morally ok to to this? Please give me some advise.

I've worked for this person before and she always paid me later by just a few days. Usually have to call and remind her.
this time she does not answer my phone calls. she owes me alot of money, because i worked long hours.

My brother and I both work for ourselves. we work together but seperate. anyway last week I was helping my brother out when he was in a bind with a big job and could not get all his work orders done. In the middle of doing some of his work, my car broke and was in the shop for 2 days last week and 2 days this week. just got it back Tuesday afternoon. he is mad at me because one of the jobs had to be done by no later than Monday. it did not get done. he knew about my car and he even refused to let me borrow his truck so I could work on Saturday. He threw a fit today and started yelling at me about this, saying I made him look bad... and caused him to lose business. he was yelling and going on about it in front of our kids. I left my parents house to stop the scene my kids and his were watching. How do I handle this? we work together, he is my brother and he was a jerk...

I have a business partner who live in another state, and we are trying to start a retail business. Do we need federal,state tax id numbers for both Pa, SC. Also do we have to get a business regestration, vendors license, sellers business license for both states. Does each partner have to file these things seprately or can we file as a company? I have been working with people for 6 years on how to record and produce music using computer based programs. I know and know about ALOT of people, especially kids, that want to know and learn what it takes to write lyrics, raps, make songs, produce beats and physical recording and use of equipment.

I used to do it for friends and etc, and the opportunity opened itself to do it at $25/hr. Now, i want to set up a not-for-profit to help benefit others the same way, but mainly accepting donations as well as grants and funding for this. Allinfo is a great help!

My friend has a sick newborn baby and is at odds with a group of high school girls that say she is harrassing them, but she's not. One of the girl's moms works at the ONLY pharmacy in our small town, and said that the Pharmacist will not serve her anymore. Is this legal?
