I need to purchase something off of the internet using a money order. I know where to get them and will do it at the Post Office but I have never done it.

So I just take the money to the Post Office, pay the fee, give them the address to mail the money and that's it? And if something happens to that money before it reaches the recipient the Post Office will cover it?

Thanks.

Ok, here is the rundown. I am 23 and semi struggling with debt. I got my first credit card when I was 18. The only thing that I knew about it was that I should pay it off as soon as I could. Well I thought I could do that, but it all started to add up. I could get all this credit and I did. I was making the money and was able to pay the minimum payments each month. It seems like I am going no where. I realize now that you have to watch out for the high APRs and the late payment fees. And also realize that I shouldnt buy anything if I dont have the money. All I am trying to say is that people need to understand the importance of credit cards. We need to learn as soon as possilbe so we can avoid this problem with our lower generations and help them out. I think that it would be wise for high schools to set up a program for students to learn more about the importance of credit cards. They arent bad as long as you can pay them off in a reasonable amount of time.

Im planning to go to medical school next fall, but I couldnt help thinking, is college worth it for the average person from a financial perspective. Yes it is necessary for certain jobs, doctor, lawyer, etc. College can easily cost about $125,000 for four years plus room and board. Most people have to take out loans for this which means they actually pay more than this. If they had just gotten a government job say w/ the post office, they would have saved this $125,000, or more. Been able to make close to $100,000 working for the four years rather than in school. So it looks like college can actually cost you around 225,000 in theory. Especially for the parents who have the money to pay for their kids college. Wouldnt they be better off investing that 100,000-150,000 for their kids and letting their kids get a job w/o a degree. That money will probably be close to 1 million dollars within 20-25 years, right?

I have maxed my IRA and my employer does not offer a 401k. I am 28 and make 85k/year. Where can I invest my money for retirement? Is a whole life insurance policy the only option remaining? Why is 15k the amount for 401k and only 4k for IRA's?

I want to sign up with one of those make money at home dealies but I don't want to make money online. I can't find one that isn't making money online.

I want to give them my address to have things mailed to me, not my email b/c I don't want any emails.

Btw, I know most of these are just a bunch of scams. It's okay.

I have been on the Dave Ramsey plan for about a year now and it has totally changed my life. The other day I watched some of Suze Orman's TV special on PBS and honestly thought it was a bad plan. It made sense, it is mathmatically logical...but I firmly believe that behavior is the key - not math. I wanted to know what you think, those that have read both books or that are on either plan.

I chopped up the card and vowed to pay it off. I've developed a monthly budget where I can use $500 a month on the CC and pay it off by August. The cc has no interest yet.

OR, I can pay less on the cc bill and still add to my savings. I only have a few hundred in savings, so if I pay off the CC before saving, I won't have much of a cushion in the meantime. Your thoughts?

As soon as the CC is paid off, the $500 monthly will go solely into savings.
