I have been on the Dave Ramsey plan for about a year now and it has totally changed my life. The other day I watched some of Suze Orman's TV special on PBS and honestly thought it was a bad plan. It made sense, it is mathmatically logical...but I firmly believe that behavior is the key - not math. I wanted to know what you think, those that have read both books or that are on either plan.

I agree with you. I really like Dave's plan. We too have been using it for just over a year and we haven't had one argument over money and virtually no stress over money! To tell you how big of a fan I am, I have read 2 of his books, done FPU & seen him live. I have also turned 5 of my coworkers onto his plan.

I am reading Suze Orman's book "9 keys to financial freedom" she is really, really, really technical. The part of her book I like is the in depth area about wills, trusts, etc. But I am still going to do more research on the subject since I don't like how she "bows to the FICO score" to quote Dave.

For more reading similar to Dave, read Howard Dayton and the late Larry Burkett. They founded crown financial ministries together. www.crown.org They aren't as "heavy fisted" as Dave but still use the Bible as the blueprint to getting out of debt and managing your money.

Good luck and keep on trucking on your baby step!!

I am true believer in Dave Ramsey's plan. We've been on the plan for 3 months, and have paid off about $9K in debt. For the first time in years we feel like we have control of our money because we know exactly where it's going.

We've been treading water for years. We've always been able to make our payments, but never made any real progress. We kept spending more than we had.

I haven't read all of Suze Orman's plan, but I think it has value for some people. I have a younger cousin who has been inspired one of her books, and it's changed her life and attitude towards money. However, what I read didn't work for our situation.

That's when we turned to Dave, and we haven't looked back. I feel like it has already changed our lives in 3 short months. I can't wait to call into his radio show and scream "I'M DEBT FREEEE!!"
