Can I protect myself somehow? He bought property and now in a huge amount of debt and will probably file bankruptcy. Can we file for a legal separation and declare it all his responsibility?

I just got a bonus from my summer job. It's about $500. I also owe a lot. I just got my car fixed and that's $232. And then what I have left to pay on my car insurance is $160. I also owe a lot on my credit card. I could put that $500 towards those things and completely not even think about it (would it be worth it?) However, I also would like to do this on my own, put that money away, and use my regular paychecks to pay that stuff off. I get paid this Friday. My paycheck should be around $400, which is just enough to pay for my insurance and car bill. I don't have to pay my car bill until mid-January, so I don't HAVE to use this paycheck for that. I know that I can pay off all of my debt on my own. It just may take a couple months, which is fine with me. I'm also afraid that if I put that $500 onto my credit card that I'll just charge $500 again and then that $500 would've gone to waste! Should I just save the money? I've been wanting to start up a savings account.

I mean, come on. It's easy for them to say. Wealthy people saying "money isn't everything" is the biggest joke--especially since they don't have to go through the daily struggle of being broke--which can be absolutely miserable!!

Would you work two full time jobs and pay off the car as quickly as possible or go to school part time and work one job and pay off the car one payment at a time? I'm in decision mode right now.

That is not a living wage. We are learning about budgeting your money and what does it take to live.
If you go to buy a car is the car payment more than you make in a week, include in that Insurance, tags, tires and repair bills.
Never let your bills, credit cards, etc. be more than one weeks wages. That let's you live on what you make in one week. For food, clothes, running around and entertainment.
Does that sound reasonable to you? You out there working and paying rent does this make sense? Does it really work?

I have used QuickBooks Pro to manage my small business finances for a while. I have been managing my personal finances in a spreadsheet, but that can get a bit messy. Is there any real advantage to going with Quicken instead of just running my personal finances as another business file with QuickBooks?

The savings account obviously pays quite less and the money can rather be used to pay off part of the mortgage loan (principal). Is this the right way to go? I have almost 30% of Mortgage Money and that will leave me with nothing in my bank account and I will be living on paycheck. I am afraid to pay the mortgage just if I could not make some payments later ..get sick or something...Any other view/suggestions?? Thanks

Yeah I know the law changed recently but if you have a disability or have really low income to begin with, is there a way to have it included in the bankruptcy judgment?

I keep getting transferred and sent to voicemails and things to that nature. The people at my bank refuse to comply with my wishes & I don't think I'll be getting a response from the voicemail I left. What is the best way to handle the situation? This is in regards to fee reversal for overdrafts. Please give me some advice on handle people who give you the run around...
