Services that you pay for are getting increasingly poor by the day.
I recently went to the ATM at my bank and used my debit card to withdraw a substancial amount of money. It was a lot 'casue I was paying bills that day and I like to pay with cash to the utilities, phone and groceries.
Well the atm debited my account but did not dispense the money.
That happened on a Friday. I went immediately into the bank and after a long (disappointing) conversation with the branch manager, I was told that all I could do ios file a dispute and that it was going to take at least 10 business days to get my money back "provided I was not defrauding the bank" (yes he actually said that!).
I was so angry with the treatment I received that on Monday I opened a new account at another bank, withdrew my savings, and made arrangements to transfer my loans too.
Now when I go into any business I expect courteous, attentive response to my patronage. If I don't get it I will contact the District manager.

There is a company that has been taking $49.95 every month out of one of my bank accounts (which I am in the process of closing). I had no idea and when i called to cancel it, I actually had to ask the company that they "sold"....which was phone cards. I have never used a phone card...ever. When I asked how I came to be signed up for this service, they told me that I got something in the mail that i was supposed to send back in so many days to cancell the service (which I probably quickly just threw away). Now, I know it's my fault for not being very observant of my own finances, but, again, I HAVE NEVER USED THIS COMPANY BEFORE! What should I do?

We are off to see our bank tomorrow to try and sort our finances, we are in a bit (well quite a bit then) of debt and have arranged a meeting with someone from bank to try and sort out paying back our overdraft and credit cards etc.
I just basically want some help on what to be saying & asking etc.
the bank we are with are charging us £125 a month for the fact we are over our overdraft limit, and then they wonder why when they charge us it takes us over it!
I need to be able to know what they could offer us what they can do to help and how to stop them charging so much as it isnt helping us finacially at all! and it is keeping us in debt! which i know banks do on purpose but we cant live like this forvever!

i want to build or buy a house but havent found one or havent found a place to build one yet. i want to take advantage of these low rates right now. is there anyway i can start paying on a mortgage now and lock in my interest rate, then when i find what i want i would have this low interest rate and already have paid some on it????? or is there a way i can get a say 200,000 mortgage, put the money in a cd, then when im ready i could take the money out, use it to pay for the house.

i know someone is going to say to just put howevermuch money the payment is going to be, and put it in savings then when im ready, i would have that savings for a bigger down payment, and that would offset the cost of having a higher interest.

well thats just too hard to do for me. its easy for me to make payments but real hard to put money in savings. any suggestions????
