If a guy asked me on a date (and I mean date, not "let's hang out") I would expect them to pay. But I would always have the fare in my purse just in case they got cheap.
But if the guy doesn't see it as a date, and he thinks it's just a hang-out thing, then he is under no obligation to pay, no matter how chivalrous a lad he may be.
However not paying is not really a good way to make a favorable impression on the lady.

Yes. If someone asked you out, then they should pay. But, I am kind of old fashion like that, Im they guy so Ill pay, or offer to pay. If my date offered to put in ill try to decline politely.....but sometimes people are like that old Aunt you have when she just keeps putting the money in your pocket telling you to "take it, take it" lol.

He will probably pay, but if you offer to pay half and he wont take it, he's a keeper (and he wont think that you're spoiled either).
