If I am 83, retired, living in Enland, have social security checks from employment here in the states years ago, why do I have to file a 1040 and pay income tax on my pension? Didn't I pay for this the first time around?

I am planning to go to JCPenney, they have a sale going on. I told my husband to set aside $100 and I would too, so that we can buy our two boys some clothes, he thinks it is too much money. My thinking is that this would cover them up for the next two months, including Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

I forgot to add in a transaction, and bounced a check for $10.46. It was promptly redeposited, and cleared with no problems. I am now being sent letters that a $30.00 "returned check fee" is being electroniaclly debited from my account without my consent. Do I have a legal obligation to pay this even though the check was redeposited successfully?

I don't know much about it, but as I understand it, you pay a weekly/monthly amount to someone who knocks on your door and at xmas they will give you some crappy hamper (for which Farepack probably paid less than you paid into the scheme) or vouchers for goods that Farepack will probably earn a commission on. Why didn't these people just put their money into a savings account, or even a shoebox under their bed??

When I request the transfer, the money always disappears from one account three days before it shows up in the other. Since it's an electronic transaction, shouldn't it be immediate? Are they just sitting on my money, collecting interest for three days before giving it back to me and keeping the interest?
