I have a 401k account with a former employer. I am considering rolling it over into an IRA.

I have heard that one downside of doing this is protection from a legal judgment.

I heard that a 401k is considered a retirement plan and cannot be used to pay if I am sued and loose. On the other hand, an IRA is an asset that can be seized to pay the judgment.

Anybody know if that is true and does it vary by state?

Thanks In Advance

twin boys (both 18 years old) inherit $100,000 each from a deceased uncle. the first twin uses the money to pay for a college degree and soon lands a job paying $70,000/yr the other twin just gets a job paying $20,000 per year. but invests the $100.000 at 10% annually in the stock market. For argument's sake let's assume both brothers spend every cent they earn for the rest of their lives (they both "keep up with the Jone's" and live paycheck to paycheck and do no other investing). In his lifetime which brother has earned more money by the time they are 65 years old (again for the sake of argument assume neither brother ever gets a raise or just take the salaries as being averages) ? and how much?
u can calculate interest at
http://www.moneychimp.com/calculator/compound_interest_calculator.htm
(note: i do have a college degree myself, but I'm just wondering if it was worth it)

I have about 30K in credit card debt and I have good credit. My payments are about $800.00 a month and I want to eliminate my debt fast. Should I consolidate my credit card debt, or will that ruin my credit? I appreciate your help.

I am about $200 in debt to my bank and then I have about a $700 rent that needs to be paid, before the end of the next week or I'll get evicted. I have to pay a lady $220 because we were involved in a car wreck. I need help, honest help that I can repay. I just need time to catch up. What do I do?

Tricky situation here. Say i'm a freshman in college and will see my bank account grow into the 6 figures very shorty... do I have to give this information to fafsa? I wouldn't be paying tax for this either, so is it possible to hide this bank balance?

I'm looking for a bank that is willing to over-finance an auto loan. In other words, I want to purchase a car worth $15,000, but borrow $30,000 and take out the other $15,000 in cash. Does anyone know of a bank that is willing to do that? I have excellent credit.

I have been told that altho I have 2 checking accounts under my name only:first name, maiden name like middle name + husband's name listed last (not hyphenated) if a divorce occurs, the money would be part of the marital assests, subject to husband getting some of this money. If I can open an account under maiden name only, is that money subject to being counted as part of the marital assets? Or do I just hide cash in a shoe box??
